‘We’re in a good place’: University of Lynchburg students return to class after COVID-19 outbreak on campus

After spending two weeks online, the University of Lynchburg was happy to welcome back students into the classrooms on Sept. 7.

The university has a total of 16 coronavirus cases while 79 students are in quarantine.

The university believes that the spike in coronavirus cases was due to students living on campus in dorms as opposed to large gatherings.

Lynchburg bakery gives free meals to teachers to show support

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, a local Lynchburg bakery spent their Labor Day preparing free meals for educators.

Chestnut Hill Bakery prepared 170 lunches for educators and their families.

The bakery’s employees work around the clock to prepare the meals as a way to brighten people’s days in these uncertain times.

Chick-fil-A on Wards Road holding backpack drive to support local students in need

As a way to help local students in need, the Chick-fil-A, located on Wards Road, is hosting a backpack drive on Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Each vehicle will be allowed to donate a maximum of five backpacks, which must be new and empty, via the drive thru lanes.

For each backpack donated, participants will receive a coupon for free ice cream or Chick-fil-A cow stuffed animal.
